Introduction 💥

 

Hi everyone, welcome back to another blog post. This is another summative blog post but this post is a summative post for our most recent humanities project. This project was a collaboration with commonlit. So we did lots of learning exercises that counted toward our final grade. We read stories and then answered multiple choice questions and wrote short responses to questions using evidence.

 

What was this project all about❓

 

This project’s main focus was on the environment and how humanity and the environment work together. This project’s final product was a letter to a certain person of our provincial government. About the environmental issues of our choice I chose toxic waste management and the dumping of waste provincially.

 

What did we learn? 🧠

 

In this project we focused on learning about using evidence to support themes. To learn this topic we did commonlit activities and those were effective. We had to then use what we learned from the commonlits to write our letter to our member of government. We had to use the theme supporting skills we got from doing the commonlits to support the themes of our letters. In our final assignment which was a multi paragraph in class writing exercise where we had to use the evidence and theme from one of our commonlit activities to support the themes of our letters.

 

What did this project include? 📜

 

Commonlit activities

 

One half of this project was about developing our writing and reading abilities. To do this we collaborated on our project with commonlit and used their writing and reading lessons to help us develop necessary skills to write milt paragraphs. Our multi paragraphs were out final milestone of this project where we had to connect a commonlit lesson to our letter through the themes. This was one of the hardest parts of the project. In the end we had an overall percentage on our commonlits and my percentage was 90%.

 

Final letter draft

To create this letter we had to go over everything we had learned from the commonlits and use evidence to write, create and support a theme in our letter. Our letter had a topic and mine waste waste management and toxic waste dumping. This was a very good topic to write about. Not only did it connect directly to one of the commonlit stories, it was a very pressing use even 2 weeks ago an entire town in nunavut had a waste spill that contaminated their entire water supply. This was a great final product for our project and I really enjoyed writing about something I am passionate about.

 

Final thoughts on this project 📜

 

In the end this was a great first project of the year and I am very happy with my success on it and I am also happy with the amount of time i wa sabke to spend in this project relative to other school activities meaning I didn’t have a lot of homework so I was able to spend time working on some more difficult things.
