Here is another photography blog post. After finishing our everyday objects activity we started an assignment on portraits. For the first activity we had to take self portraits (not selfies). What we had to do was use the front camera of our iPads and use different angles to take a self portrait.

I started by just putting my iPad on the ground to take the photo. For the next few I wanted to be more creative. I rested my iPad on my music stand in front of a window in my backyard. I leaned against the window and looked up. For the next photo I used the same setup but I stood behind my iPad to take a photo of my reflection. For the glowing photos I used a flashlight to make it shine. Finally, for the last photo a used a mirror and water.

The second part of this assignment was to use the timer. I was already using the timer but I decided to jump for this. My photos are a little blurry and my face expressions are pretty strange but it is fun to see myself in the air.

The next activity was to photograph someone familiar and I chose to do my pets. For the first photo my dog and my neighbour’s dog were playing in the backyard so I tried to have them jump for the toys but most of them were blurry.

For this part of our assignment we had to create a silhouette photo. First I tried to use a photo light to make the silhouette effect but it did not work. The sun was about to go down so I was not sure what to do but I went outside just in time. While I was editing the photo their was a grey cloud right behind my head. I could not seem to get rid of it in photos so I had to use Snapseed.

For the last activity we had to create a portrait from the past. We had to find an old photo and recreate it as good as we could now.

At the end I think that I learned that while you take a photo you have to know what you want someone to feel while looking at your photo. You also have to think of different ways to show your thoughts. This was a very fun project and I hope I can do even more photography.
