Oregon Field School Reflection

On October 13 2018 a group of twenty eight students and three teachers left Seycove Secondary at 6:15 am. They wouldn’t return for another seven days…

I was one of those students.

Here are my top five Oregon feild school moments.

5: Cabela’s
I think Cabela’s is world best store, it has everything you would need for exploring the great outdoors therefore the best store in the world!

4: R.O.V.s at Hatfield Marine Science Centre
Hatfield marine science center is an marine reasearch laboratory where we built and tested Remote Operating Vehicles (R.O.V.). We had to construct am R.O.V out of pre cut PVC pipe and connectors, three motors (right, left and up/down), a magnet and a remote controller. Once built we tested them in large tubs of water with steel balls and cutlery located on the bottom. The task was to successfully operator your R.O.V. To collect as many objects as possible. Our team appeared to be one of the more successful teams because we finished the task first. I really enjoyed this part of the trip because I was able to show some leadership in completing this task.

3: Fort Stevens State Park
Fort Stevens State Park is an old American civil war battery that was used in the first and second world wars. It was really cool to see Inside the battery and get told what everything was and it’s uses were. It is definitely a place I would revisit again because it is cool to see an old battery so well preserved.

2: Highlife Adventures
Highlife Adventures is a zip lining park with 9 zip lines, 7 of the zip lines go over water. I love zip lining and highs. There isn’t anything else to say about it other than Highlife Adventures is awesome and if you are ever in Warrenton, Oregon then it is a must do.

1: Beverly Beach
Beverly beach is a large open beach that is on the open Pacific Ocean, so the waves are large and the water is realy cold. We went there on the ~ day of the trip, our teachers said that we could walk in the water solong as we didn’t get wet…                                      After a while of running in a water with my friends a big wave came and partly soaked me. Another few minutes and I was fully soaked. I had fallen over in the water and fallen  again when I tried to get up because a large wave came and knocked me over. One of my friends Brenton had also falen over at some point. When we had to go the teachers decided on the six wettest people who got to go back to our cabins and change out of our wet clothes before we went to dinner. Even though the water was cold, it was really fun.

A book I made about the trip:
