Period 2 & 3

In class students discussed and determined the theme of the story of Peter Pan.

Students then worked on gr L 29-32 (due Friday).

Period 1

In class today students did their library orientation.

After that we returned to class and started working on nouns.

Complete lesson 24.

Tuesday, September 19

Periods 5 & 6

In class today:

-students were given 15 minutes to rehearse their presentations

-students did their presentations.  They were great!

-we then organized their binders

-we then discussed tips to help students be successful in school.

Hwk:

There is no homework today.

Period 8

In class today:

-students submitted their homework.

-we reviewed the story and foreshading in the text.

-we labelled and organized our binders.

-we worked in table groups to plot out the story of Peter Pan

Hwk:

-google the story of Peter Pan. Make note of the version you are looking at. Write out  (in point form) the way the story ends.

 

Monday, September 18

Period 1

In class today:

-students were given some time to rehearse their presentation

-students presented their fairy tales.  They were fantastic!

-we organized our binders.

-I responded to the questions from the “All about me” sheet.

Period 2 & 3

In class today:

-I collected the homework

-we discussed the story and the questions

-we organized our binders

-I responded to the questions from the “All about me” sheet.

-students worked in groups on the boards to discuss the plot of Peter Pan

Hwk:

  1. find a version of Peter Pan (online) and in point form write down how it ends.
  2. make sure to make a note of the version that you are getting the information from.  (for example: who the author is).

Friday, September 15

Period 5 & 6

In class today:

We wrote our first journal

We worked on our Fairy Tale project.

Homework:

Bring all school supplies for class-on Tuesday we will be organizing our binders

Prepare for Fairy Tale presentation-on Tuesday we will do our presentations

Period 8

In-class today:

We wrote our first journal

We did a coffee talk

We read and discussed the short story “Barney”

Homework:

  1. Complete Questions #3,4,5 from after the story
  2. Finish your journal entry
  3. Bring your school supplies to class so we can organize your binder

 

Thursday, September 14

Period 2 & 3

In class today we started our ban/love list for writing.

We did a “coffee talk” activity to discuss our feelings on animal testing

We read the Short Story “Barney”

We worked in small groups doing an entry by entry analysis of the story.

We discussed the story as a large group

Homework:

-complete questions #3,4,5 at the end of the story

-remember to bring in your school supplies

Period 1

In class today:

-We reviewed expectations for the class presentations and Fairy Tale project.

-I answered questions that were posed on the all about me sheets.

Homework:

-prepare for Monday’s group presentations

-ensure all supplies for class are with you on Monday.
