People and the Environment

Hello again, yes I’m back since my class just finished a project called “People and the Environment”.

The beginning of this project started by looking at some environmental issues and how our world is being impacted by them. Then we were to choose a problem that relates with the environment and create a letter based on or chosen topic.

Main Idea of Project

As you all may know, our planet is facing some problems like deforestation, plastic pollution, global warming, and many more. These causes will eventually end up destroying our planet or life as we know but there are already some inventions that are helping reduce these environmental issues significantly. The main goal of this project was, creating a letter that is based on a environmental issue and we write down some ideas of what temporarily solutions are there to fix the issue. Then finally we would choose a representative that relates to our letters and mail them to the person.

Conmen-lit

We didn’t just work on the letters though, one of the other things we worked on was common-lit activity’s that involved vocabulary quizzes, stories involving climate change problems and historical problems, and lessons on how to use evidence from texts and quotes. The most enjoyable things that I found while working in these activities were the reading the stories and learning how to use evidence from texts and quotes because some stories like Hey, Come on Out and Lee Sherman, caught my imagination and curiosity about how society is influenced by environmental issues.

My Letter

My environmental issue I chose to write about was Over Fishing since I’m a big nerd in fish species and have an addiction for fishing. In 2000 and 2002, their was an big problem in Rockfish population because people began to over fish them and didn’t realize how big of a problem this would lead to. By 2013 Rockfish species like Groupers and Codfish, were categorized as and endangered fish and the Fishing Industry closed all fishing grounds that involved those species. Eventually they allowed people to fish for them again but this time they add new laws and regulations, I also chose to send my letter to Finn Donnelly since he works as a Parliament Secretary for fisheries and aquaculture.

Conclusion

Overall I really enjoyed this project though I did wish we walk on a sunny or cloudy day not on a rainy day but it was fun. Hope you guys enjoyed my post and I’ll see you all in the next one.
