Hello blog readers,

Blue Sky exhibition something we do every year. If you don’t know what blue sky is check out my last blue sky post here. We have done other mini exhibitions you can check out as well such as well such as the Star Wars one.

Starting this final maker project we learned all about the launch cycle. The launch cycle has 7 steps and in blue sky we used every single one.

For this years Blue Sky exhibition I decided to make a cutting board, but not just any cutting board a all in one cutting board.

First I had to get my idea approved by the teachers. We got a pitch form and I filled it out. It took a few revisions but finally my idea got approved.

Now I started to work on prototype 1. My prototype 1 was just a sketch of my idea. I went onto sketches pro and started to draw my sketch.

After prototype 1 was done and I got peer feedback in class, I started to work on prototype 2. My prototype 2 was a model of my cutting board made out of cardboard. This was a easy prototype to make because it required only cardboard and scissors.

After I finished my second prototype, I needed to get a interview. I went to Pier 1 imports looking for some feedback from a worker. I met this amazing lady named Donna. I explained my idea to her and she gave me feedback on what to do. She told me to make sure the glass doesn’t dull the knives.

It took so long, making the glass. I broke the glass twice before actually being able to make it. I had to cut out a circle for the strainer/ holder. After that I put sika screen on an area of the cutting board to help make the knives not dull. Then, I baked the glass and made it matt. My dad also advised that I should temper it so it wont break. So, I tempered the glass overnight.

When everything was done and my finals product was finished, I went back to Pier 1 looking for Donna. I showed her the final product and she loved it. I also gave her a thank you card and invited her to the exhibition.

For the night of the exhibition I made a keynote to show my photos and explain what I did in a more organized manner. The exhibition night, is our launch to the world.

(Present,Launch,Show to world at the exhibition ,Reflect on launch cycle and how it personally helps me)

In the end, I think I produced great work. I worked very hard this year on my product, presentation, and interview and I’m very proud. I put hours of time and effort into the final product and it benefited me so much. Grade 9 exhibitions were great but I’m already thinking of ideas for next year.
