Who are you as a learner/student?

In maker, we have to answer the big question “Who are you as a learner/student?”. They told us to answer by providing evidence from past work and written descriptions on how we learn and what we’re good at, so today, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

For the past few weeks, my whole class have been working on a writing and planning exercise called Big Life Journal. It’s a document filled with writing prompts that help you plan your dream goal, gives you activities to better your growth mindset, and trying to adapt the thinking part in your brain. In Chapter 3 of BLJ (Big Life Journal) the main focus of the chapter was to plan and design your dream board.  We had to put all our dreams and goals in life on this board and put corresponding pictures, quotes & stickers to make it 100% unique to your goals in life. It really helped me to understand the importance of having goals to work towards.

An assignment in this sector of maker we did was making a user manual if you as an individual was the product.  We copied the layout of the mentor text that was provided, and edited it to describe our different & unique traits.  The user manual was broken up into 3 sections: Getting started, Settings and Warnings & Troubleshooting. I used the Settings portion to show as an example because it was the portion in the assignment that really gave you the freedom to express how you act and your main interest to the teacher so they can get to know who you are.

And for the last example, we have here my very own Memoji, filled with stickers that best represent my personal likes so took the assignment at hand and did exactly what I did.  I added mostly stickers of my favourite tv shows & movies, which are Friends, Stranger Things, Brooklynn Nine Nine, The Princess Bride and Enola Holmes. I put a blue dinosaur on it to represent the more childlike side of me, a blue sticker with a wave to show how I like the water and a lightening bolt because I just like lightning. I really liked this project because you could really have lots of freedom and put anything you wanted on the Memoji

So to conclude my first blog entry and to answer the burning question that was asked of me, I feel like I am a learner who loves a good challenge, will always give 100% of my effort into anything and loves to have as much creative freedom as I possibly can. So there, that’s the answer to the big question “Who are you as a learner/student?”. And I myself have a question for you my fellow reader, I want to see your answers if you, yourself answered the big question, who exactly are you as a learner.
