Hi guys, and welcome to the best bad blog ever!!

This is the first chapter of a short story that I am going to start on my blog.

Hope you all enjoy!

This world is changing.

Warping.

Evolving.

Driving itself to the brink of extinction.

And there’s nothing any of us can do to stop it.

Flashing lights. Leaves smack my arms. My foot twists. I stumble. My hands scrape the rocky ground and I feel blood squirt from my hands as I get up and keep moving. I look up into the sky. The full sun slowly starts turning into a sliver as a massive ship moves in front of it. I push myself faster. Farther. I reach the edge of the bunker. I see guards moving around it. Carrying guns. Those are energy rifles. Military-grade energy rifles. They will take you out in one shot if you’re not careful. That wasn’t in the briefing. I fish a coin out of my pocket. I toss it on the ground farther away from my position. The guard hears it and starts slowly moving towards it. I grin. The oldest play in the book. I come out from behind the underbrush and start stalking towards the guard. I leap onto the guards back, twisting my legs around his neck. He reaches up, trying to pry my legs away from his neck. I put my hand over his mouth so he can’t cry for help. Then my world shatters as I hear the guards’ gun clatters to the ground. I hear five guards rush towards the sound and surround me. The background fades away, the models of the guards slowly flicker out and I’m back in the white box we call the Bunker. My friend, Leo, walks towards me holding a tablet that was running the training simulation.

“Come on Ali,” he says. “You’ve made some form of the same mistake the last three training sims. You’ve been distracted all week!” I look at the floor.

“I’m fine Leo. Leave me alone.”

“Ali,” he reaches his hand forward but I snap my arm away.

“Just boot up the next sim.” I take a running position and as the world comes into view I push all my problems out of my head. As I dart forward, the only thing I’m thinking about is where I’m stepping next.
