Day 7 Emojis

Emojis have a long way since 1997, and they have impacted messaging and typing for most people. Emojis originated in Japan in 1997; the original emoji were called emoticons and looked like this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ಠ_ಠ 🙂 :(. They evolved quickly to become 12×12 pixel images on phones in 1999; Docomo made these early emojis. Emoji quickly became popular in Japan, as rival mobile companies copied DOCOMO’s idea. And as mobile computing got much more popular throughout the mid2000s. Apple integrated emojis into their first iPhone in 2007. After Apple announced that google petitioned emoji to be recognized by the Unicode Consortium, Unicode accepted that proposal in 2010, in a move that would soon make emoji accessible everywhere.

I created a quiz where you have to guess what each emoji combination represents. I went through numerous websites to find one that I could make a quiz on to do this. Then I started brainstorming to develop different emoji combos that reference real-life things, such 🍏📱 as iPhone and 🥋 🐼 means The movie Kung fu panda. I felt that I needed to experiment with various aspects of the quiz website to create the quiz.
Check out the quiz here, and I’ll be excited to look through all the results!
