Did I Learn?

Hello people,

Once again I am here to do my MPOL (mid year presentation of learning.) the last time I did one of these was in grade 8, so a pretty long time ago. If you want to go see my grade 8 MPOL you can find it here. Today I am going to be reflecting on my learning so far this year, I find it so crazy that I’m already halfway through my grade 10 year, I feel like I should still be in grade 8.

In this post I will do my best to answer these questions, How have I demonstrated growth as a learner so far this year? How can I sharpen my Learning Plan to ensure I will reach my learning targets by the end of this school year?

looking back on all the projects I have completed so far this year, I can’t think of a project that I hated or severely disliked. Of coarse there are things that I could improve on and learn from but I think acknowledging the fact that all my final products didn’t fall to far below my expectations is important.

During the creation of my own political party I used and developed my skills of collaboration and expanding my own perspective to others perspectives. This project also opened my eyes to the fact that I am always more happy while learning something I am passionate about or interested in.

While learning about the history of oppression in BC I discovered that I am a lot more adept at learning through visual and physical lessons. During this project we went on many trips to learn about the history and I believe I retained a lot more information by going on the field studies rather than if we had to stay in class and learn through lectures.

Very recently I had a moment where I was really excited to learn and didn’t want the project to end. This happened during the recreation of Romeo and Juliet project, I had so much fun learning about Romeo and Juliet because it is such and interesting topic to me. I have also always loved acting and putting my more creative side to work.  This made sure that I was very proud of the end video even if it wasn’t movie material it was still amazing in my mind.

Now as you could see through all those examples I did learn a lot so far this year but unfortunately it didn’t totally line up with my learning goals for this year. Unfortunately while doing these projects I had the issue of forgetting that I made a learning plan at the beginning of the year. Now because you can’t change the past I will choose not to scold myself for that I will learn from it and plan to reflect and use my plan throughout the next semester.
