P’dcastin

Hello and welcome to week 6! Yes, 6! Of my weekly blog posts. Seem’s crazy it’s already been ten weeks of school, but as I am repeatedly reminded, it has been. This last ten weeks have shown me so much, and we will discuss that throughout this post. I’m taking this weekly post as an opportunity to do a bit of a reflection on the weeks past, and those that will be coming up.

The first 5 weeks of classes was learning about how to create an inspiring and educational podcast trailer. This seemed like a monumental task, but with the help of my teachers and the internet, I managed to create something I am relatively happy with, but honestly, it wasn’t great.

The emotional part of the first 5 weeks was much less great than my podcast trailer. I had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. My focus wasn’t great, and I wasn’t producing work that I was genuinely happy with or proud of.

The next 5 weeks was where our grade contracts were introduced. At the time, I needed something attainable, but I still wanted an A. I settled for 90%, and hit that target for our podcast trailer project.

The transition between the first half of the quarter and the second was relatively easy, but I was a little afraid to start creating an actual podcast. I wanted so badly to create something I could show off and be proud of.

The emotional transition I found myself working towards also came with a grade contract transition. When I finally figured out what worked for me, I was able to start pushing myself more and more, and my 90% went up to a 93%.

Throughout the next 5 weeks, my goal is to keep pushing myself to a 93% and hold myself accountable to what works. I want to keep creating work I am happy to share, and use the time I am given as effectively as possible.

Thanks for reading, and make sure to check out my next post on Helmut, a WWII veteran, and his story.
