History and Elections, How Exciting…

Well hello there, as many of you know I live in British Columbia which is one of 13 provinces and territories in Canada. Recently we just had our provincial election which was called almost a year early but that is a whole other can of worms that I would rather not get into at the moment. Anyways, this election actually became fairly historically significant due to the outcome of both the Premiere and individual ridings as well.

BC is traditionally a fairly conservative province with the BC liberal party holding office the last five elections and the social credit party holding office for 11 terms before them. So when the NDP won with a majority government as well as the popular vote it’s an understatement to say most of us were surprised. But this election has reminded me about what we’re currently learning about in class which happens to be historical significance. So in light of Ms. Maxwell’s teachings I’ve decided to make a list of all the reasons why I think this election is historically significant.
