What I Learned-Making Interesting Images

Photography is an interesting and meaningful activity. To be able to create and communicate through a photo you have to really think about everything involved like the angles, the lighting and the meaning of the photo. When creating a picture I can use my emotions, feelings and thoughts to showcase it to the audience and tell a story.

Overall three skills I found useful were, the adding and using filters to edit and alter your image.  They were very easy to work with and practical, as well as they add whatever mood or vibe you’re going for. Secondly, the lesson we learned on manufacturing mood was very helpful because if took apart all the details that are involved with setting and showing a certain emotion within your picture. Lastly the lesson about adjusting angles taught me different ways and views to take a photo from. For example worms eye view angle is where you put your device on the ground and you take a photo of you standing above, so it looks like the photo was taken from a worms perspective.

Who am I as a PLP learner?

My name is Mika and I’m a student in the PLP program at Seycove. Here are some of the projects I’ve done so far to show my learning.

WordPack: For this project I learned how to describe myself using I am statements. I created statements that reflected on my personality and interests such as I am an artist and an athlete; to describe artist I paint, sculptor and make art wherever I go even if it’s just a doodle on the corner of my work, and for athlete I play competitive soccer in a club. Also I described myself in more simpler ways such as I am a sister, a daughter and more.

Dreamboard: This project I enjoyed a lot because it was identifying what you daydream about and you got to make and create it however you’d like. I learned a lot about myself and what I like, as well as my interests and dreams. Also I learned new skills in digital art to make my dreamboard; I got to experiment with basically everything to create my piece. As you can see on my dreamboard I have all my friends and my soccer team because they’re special to me, and you can also see my interests, hobbies and especially places I wish to go to.

Bucketlist: This project was definitely my favourite out of everything I’ve done so far in PLP, because it was about identifying things you want to do in your lifetime and there’s no limit when it comes to imagination. I discovered that there’s so many things I’d love to do before I die such as go skydiving, fly in a fighter jet, go in a submarine and more things like that. I learned plenty things about myself from this project, more of my interests, my values, my dreams in life and especially what I aspire to do in the future.

YouTube channel: For this project I worked in a group with some of my friends Gabby and Syd. We had to create a whole YouTube channel idea about something we were all passionate about  and we picked reckless humour as our guide. Our channel was called Powerpuff Girls and for our video ideas we picked things such as baking blind, mute and deaf as well as hunting for Bigfoot at 3am. This project was very fun and creative but we also learned to create a the basics for a channel like having a banner, a name and using tools to make it pop. From this project I learned how to express my personality into an actual channel were we got to experiment many things within it and I also learned how to work and cooperate with others ideas so we were all happy and pleased with the final product.

All of this learning helped me have a deeper feel into what this program is about and everything I’ve done here has helped me grow and has also helped grow my imagination for the world.
