Helllo and welcome to my blog! in this blog we are going to talk about our newest scimatics project. During this project we learned about the cell reproduction cycle and built these cells in a simulator called tinkercad!

We started off by watching what every high school student has to watch at some point: a video about sexual health from 200,000 years ago.

Once we learned about sexual and a sexual reproduction, we made a mind map!

Once we finished our mindmaps, we spend time building knowledge. We learned through watching some videos, reading textbooks, and completing workbooks. From this, we were able to learn some interesting facts! Humans share about 85% of our DNA with corn, which I thought was super funny and interesting. there are so many  different types of asexual reproduction, and of course, the entire process of mitosis and meiosis.

After learning about that it was time to do the part of school that always make slightly frustrated, Khan academy quizzes! To test our knowledge we did these quizzes and they took me a while but i eventually got it!

Now it was time to start our building! Tinkercad time!! We also used this in the eighth grade for a separate project, so we already had a small amount of knowledge on the simulation.

At first we simply made practice items, that was it but then we started making miosis models! Then Mitosis models!

This part of the project was also somewhat difficult for me since i struggle with 3D ( i cannot see in 3D) but i still half fun with it!

Another fun part of this project is that we got to grow garlic! and once it started growing, we got to look at parts of the root under microscopes to try and capture the stages of mitosis!

Then, we created videos!! Explaining miosis and mitosis! Very jazzy:)

I enjoyed this project quite a bit, though it wasn’t my favourite project it was still rather interesting! So, how is the reproduction of cells essential to the survival of organisms? Well, from what I have learned in this project, without mitosis and meiosis occurring within cells, we would simply not exist!

Mitosis allows organisms to build and regenerate, while meiosis actually provides diversity within species and also contributes to surviving natural selection due to the unique attributes of organisms!  It was a very fun project!
