The Power Of The Pencil!!!!!

The past month we have been doing a project using Apple Pencils! We have learnt how to draw and create using sketches pro and Apple Pencils! This project has been so much fun and it is coming to an end now. Now I’m making this blog post to talk all about what we did and how to use THE POWER OF THE PENCIL!!!!!!!!!

 

The first technique of sketches pro we used was emoji art. This was a challenge for us to draw an emoji in five minutes, just after we learnt a little bit about sketches pro. This is mine. I used the tools I already knew how to use and I was pretty happy with the end result.

 

The second thing we drew was word art! This was my most accomplished piece of art. I used the spray paint tool, and I made shadows and I was just overall very proud of the word art. I spelt out my name!

The word art task was near Halloween so I did a Halloween version .

 

The third thing we drew was sketch notes! We watched a video about growth mindset and learnt how to make a not so cluttered sketch note page. Video we watched: A ted talk

The one we did after that was a self portrait. This one I felt was one that we really had to use a ton of tools on. We used layers and watercolour and all sorts of things. I thought mine was what I expected it to be but I think if I really wanted to be the best I could’ve tried harder.

The next one we did was shading a fruit bowl. This one probably took the longest, because we had to shade in and put a light source and it took a long time. I think I got the light source pretty spot on though. I left the apples without colour, hoping they would stand out.

The second last one we did was logos. There were lots of different types of logos, but I chose to do one for an imaginary business. The business was called Magic 8 cafe and I think I did pretty well. I used the cut and copy tool a lot for this one, to make it more clean and symmetrical.

 

The last piece of art we did was a bit different. We chose one art piece that we liked a lot and drew a better or in the same style but different piece. I chose to draw word art again, but incorporated the cafe idea by making the word TEA. I was very proud of this work and it was almost definitely my favourite.

Another thing we did with this project was demonstrate a competency. The competency to complete was Empowered Learner.

I think I demonstrated this competency fairly well. I used the tools to my advantage and I think that having the iPads is a huge advantage. I thought that my learning and understanding was really good and that I know how to use sketches pro. The main focus of this project was to learn how to use the iPad and draw in ways you can’t do with paper. Some of my favourite tools are; layers, cut and copy, smudge, different ruler shapes and ink pen. I think that I’ve learnt how to use the tools and have become a sketches pro.
