My first film🎞 ft. The exhibition

Hi and welcome back to my final maker blogpost of my grade 9 year. 

This project was insane, chaotic and all over the place. Pretty munch we had to create our own original documentary, on any topic we wanted, that was between 5-7 minutes long and covered all this criteria 

We had to get our whole documentary done in four weeks while going through every stage of final production and conducting at least 1 interview for it. By the time our documentary should’ve been finished it would be presented during our final spring exhibition! Crazy right.

Anyway since now you know what the goal fir this project was, let’s go into a little more detail 🧐

I choose to do my documentary on “how to be a successful athlete” 

By the end o this project we would’ve gone through all 6 steps of movie/film production. Which are the following..

  1. Pitch out idea (what we wanted to make our documentary about)
  • Pitch idea in basecamp
  • determine a message 
  • write/create a log line and treatment 
  • determine who you would interview for this topic

2. Write a screenplay 

  • use templet given and make appropriate adjustments 

 

3. Draw out storyboard 

  • make sure you include a time approximation 
  • Include frame/angel 
  • Details!!
  • Explain whats going to happen 

Once everything was approved ✅  your free to go and film 

4. Reach out and conduct you necessary interviews 

  •  reach out through email, phone or text
  •  wait for a response
  •  make sure you follow interview guidelines

In the end it was a fun but very stressful project. Next time I would like to have a bit more time and maybe refine my work ethic so I can better stay on top of assignments.    I would like a bit more time so I can refine and revise my documentary a bit more.

Overall it was an entertaining project and although I was quite overwhelmed with the workload a lot fo the time, I made it work and I got it completed before the exhibition.

This year exhibitions theme was “the PLP story”. There were 5 sections the grade 8-9’s ran, we were all responsible to tell the story of PLP through 5 sections

  1. into
  2. PBL pathway
  3. beyond the classroom
  4. tech for learning
  5. conclusion

I was in conclusion with; Cooper, Brooke, Julian, Xander, Max, Alfie and Nolan + nine grade 8’s

our drive in question was

“what is a PLP leaner” 

We decied to show the levels of Proficiency (🌈☀️⛅️☁️) and ask everyone walking by what they taught a PLP learner was.

After an hour and a half of setting up is looked something like this
