Another Post About Emojis

Hello!

Another late post. Great. Evelyn+Homework=Late Blog Posts. Oh well.

Week 7 of the Student Blogging Challenge is all about emojis! Fun! I wrote another emojis post last year, too.

I can’t believe we are on week 7 already. Well, technically we’re on week 8. I’m just late, as usual.

Ok, I’m going to stop talking about that now.

Emojis are fun. I use them all the time when I’m texting my friends, my grandma, and even writing blog posts! Especially my grandma. She loves heart emojis. Hi Nana! ❤️😍

That, however, is irrelevant.

A Post About School

Hello!

Welcome to this post about school! That is the subject of the Student Blogging Challenge Week 6. School is fun! Let’s get into the post.

What was that intro. Yikes.

I go to high school. It is a pretty small school, with only about 500 students. I am in a program called PLP.

I don’t know what my problem is. I can’t write anything remotely interesting today. My brain has been fried by all the storyboards I have to make for homework. Oh dear. I’m a mess.

Let’s try again. How about we talk about PLP. What is that, anyways?

A Post About Our Lovely Earth

Hello!

This post is late. I apologize.

The earth is very important. We live here. We get our food and water here. We play and work and talk and walk here. We are born here and we die here.

This all may seem quite obvious, but if so, why are we killing it? Why are we spewing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere? Why are we dumping plastic into the ocean? Why are we cutting down entire forests? And why does this keep happening, even through all the warnings from scientists and climate activists around the world?

A Post About Diving

Hello!

Week Four of the Student Blogging Challenge is upon us, and the theme is Free Choice! This is very exciting, but also rather daunting. I have a hard time thinking up what to write about.

Last time I wrote about my dog, Barley. If you read this blog a lot, then I’m sure you are very familiar with Barley and have seen many random photos of him. You can scroll to the very bottom of this page to see one now.

That is not relevant. Right now I’m just stalling while I try to think of an interesting topic. I’m kind of unprofessional that way.

A Post About Quality Commenting

Hello!

I’m back with another SBC post: Commenting! Reading others’ blogs and leaving comments is one of the best parts of the Student Blogging Challenge, so this is exciting! My last attempt at a commenting post was pathetic, so this time I‘m trying to step up my game.

One thing I’ve realized is that I can put commenting guidelines on my homepage! I’ve been trying to figure out what to do on there for ages. I will make sure to include them in this post, too.

When you comment, it is important to do it well. You are essentially giving someone that you don’t know feedback on their blog post, so you should be kind. Here is the template that I generally follow when I comment on peoples’ blogs.

A Post About The Student Blogging Challenge 2019

Hello!

Wow. It’s the end of the Student Blogging Challenge. These 8 weeks seem to have sped by, so fast that I’ve been having trouble keeping up with them! This post is about my experience participating in the challenge and what I have learned about it.

This challenge has been super fun, and in my opinion I’ve really grown as a blogger these past weeks. If you compare my first post at the beginning to this one now, I think you’ll see a dramatic difference. Here’s a brief review of all of my Student Blogging Challenge posts this year.

A Post About Holidays

Hello!

I am not behind on this blog post! Hooray for me!

The Student Blogging Challenge for Week 7 is all about holidays. My family celebrates lots of different holidays, and they’re always big family occasions. I am half-Jewish, half-Christian (though I myself don’t really follow either religion) so we have a lot of holidays to celebrate!

In this post, though, I will be focusing on a holiday tradition that my family has been doing for ages. Gingerbread houses! Every year around December, my cousins and my family all go to my grandparents house to decorate gingerbread houses. It’s a really fun activity, where we socialize, craft, and eat loads of candy!

A Post About Emojis

Hello!

I am still behind on my blog posts, but I’m catching up. I only need to finish two more!

Onto the actual post. This week for the Student Blogging Challenge, the topic is emojis! Emojis are fun and expressive, but I don’t use them that often, so this will be fun!

The first task that I am going to complete in this post is to write an story based on a prompt from byrdseed.com/emoji. It provides random emojis that you can translate into a story. Here is mine:

A Post About Music

Hello!

First of all, I would just like to apologize for my third (fourth?) late blog post in a row. To be fair, I have been away for a week, but I still really need to catch up.

Now that that’s over with, I can get on with the  blog post!

For the 5th week of the Student Blogging Challenge, our assignment is to write about music. I’m not much of a musician myself, having quit several different instruments, but I do enjoy listening to music and appreciate good songs when I hear them.

One thing I thought I would write about, since I’ve been in Connecticut and New York for the past week, is Broadway musicals. I am a huge fan of theatre and musicals, and I’ve seen a few, mostly as movies, though earlier this year I had the chance to watch some in the Broadway Across Canada tour. This week I was lucky enough to see the real thing.

A Post About Barley

Hello!

Now, you might be thinking: What’s this, Evelyn? Why the sudden interest in grains?

Let me clarify. If you’ve read my About Me page, you would know that Barley is my puppy!

We brought Barley home from a breeder near Mission, BC. He is a 5-and-a-half month old goldendoodle. Some of his favourite pastimes include licking ice cubes, eating leaves from our backyard, cuddling, and playing with this squeaky chicken toy that our grandparents got for him.
