Role summary:

  • As a work experience student, you will be working with a team of volunteers and staff to create the ultimate visitor  experience for all of our guests this December.
  • Creating connections between our guests and our animals.
  • Excellent opportunity for students to build their knowledge in:
  • Customer service and communication skills;
  • Professionalism in a workplace setting;
  • Conservation and animal species.
  • Exploring career options.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, and self-motivated;
  • Students in high school;
  • Genuine interest in working with the public;
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in delivering excellent customer service;
  • Second language is an asset.

Discovery Days in Health Sciences

At TD Discovery Days in Health Science students explore a variety of careers in medicine and the health sciences, interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting.
Schedule – This full day event is scheduled for December 8, 2017. The day is comprised of a dynamic keynote lecture, hands-on workshops and a career panel discussion.

JIBC (Hands-on Firefighting Workshop for Women)

 

The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) will hosting a full day of introduction to the career of firefighting, facilitated by professional women firefighters from the Metro Vancouver area.

For $25 participants receive the workshop, lunch and a t-shirt.   The JIBC is committed to reaching out to those who may not think about firefighting as a career.

After-School Junior Achievement Company Program

 

JA Company Program is the ultimate training ground for young entrepreneurs ages 15-18. Work with other students to learn about running a business – from forming a company to developing marketing campaigns to deciding how to distribute dividends – you will have the opportunity to try it all!

JA Company Program is offered as an after-school club in certain select locations. Start dates and program times vary. Participation is FREE but you must pre-register prior to the club’s start date. Space is limited, so please register for ONE program only.

An opportunity for a student to do scientific research in the area of Biotechnology and explore careers in this area.

Once again BCIT is offering their BioTechnology Career Awareness Program in December or April for students in grade 11 or grade 12.  If you are enthusiastic about scientific research, lab work and our interested about careers related to biotechnology. The program will provide bus transportation (when applicable) between the laboratory and the industry site.
