Rack Stop Sales Associate
Rack Stop Stores Ltd. is looking for a competent and hard working individual to work as a sales associate in their North Vancouver store. The successful candidate will need to be an outward focused people person, with a willingness to go above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service. Some mechanical aptitude is also a plus, and sales or retail experience is preferred, although not necessary.

Job Descriptions:

Responsibilities will include:
• Selling merchandise to customers, providing excellent customer service.
• Installing and maintaining customers’ racks and other purchases.
• Receiving deliveries and processing inventory.
• Ordering merchandise from distributors.
• Writing out work orders and adding them to a work schedule.
• Report to the sales supervisor on a regular basis.

Skills and Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have some mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work standing for extended periods and perform some heavy lifting tasks.
• Retail or sales experience preferred, but not required.

This is a full time, 40-hours a week position, with some weekends and holiday work required. We are open 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sundays and holidays, typical work pattern is an 8-hour shift within that time frame.

Fire Fighter Career Day for Grade 11 & 12 students interested in firefighting (May 12, 2016)! Guest speakers provide an overview of the District of North Vancouver Fire Department including training, educational, and physical requirements. The afternoon will be hands-on training & demonstrations, for example, trying on firefighter suits & protective equipment; entering a smoke-filled building; rappelling from the tower; snorkel & hazardous material demo; trying out the aerial truck; hose work; auto extraction; and using fire extinguishers! Guaranteed to be a great day!

Quest Food Exchange (Need Volunteers)

As a not-for-profit organization, Quest Food Exchange relies heavily on the support of volunteers in the communities that we serve. In 2015, over 1900 volunteers generously donated 27,000 hours to Quest operations! On behalf of the team at Quest and the community at large, thank you for choosing to volunteer with us. Primarily, your group volunteer session will involve the repackaging of food items for our not-for-profit grocery markets. Other special projects that may suit your group’s interests may also be available, depending on when your shift is scheduled. Examples of these include stocking, general maintenance, letter mail outs, and organizing products in the distribution centre. For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator by email at volunteerjobs@questoutreach.org.
Volunteer groups can be scheduled between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM, Monday to Friday. Limited weekend volunteer opportunities are available.
We ask that new volunteer groups be scheduled for a minimum of 4 hours. If this does not suit your availability, alternative arrangements are possible.
Location: 2020 Dundas Street. Unless alternate arrangements are made, volunteer group sessions take place here. Your team may gather on the upper floor of the Administration Office, above the market.

SOLDIER FOR A DAY – VANCOUVER – 30 April 2016

The Soldier For a Day (SFAD) is a one day program is designed to allow students the opportunity to see the equipment, roles and capabilities of the Canadian Armed Forces – Army Reserve and educate them on the part time career opportunities with the Army Reserve

SFAD starts with an introduction to the facilities, and basic military concepts like drill (marching), dress and deportment. Then they will learn and experience a wide range of military equipment. They will be introduced to weapons, vehicles, and training equipment. We will also be introducing the students into some of our unique tactics and training. It will end with them receiving a briefing on education and employment opportunities available as well as how to join.

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection to participate in SFAD:
a. Canadian Citizen;
b. Between the ages of 16-57 (16-18 Parental consent required)
c. Have minimum grade 10 with 6 core credits complete(English, math and science)
d. Have no legal obligations to the judicial system
