Parkgate Volunteers Needed

Volunteer News February 2020

Parkgate Community Centre has a ton of volunteer opportunities over spring and summer break.  Please click on the link above to see their Volunteer News Flyer to see if there is something for you to do.

Parkgate is an excellent place to gain volunteer hours, work experience hours and working within your community making connections.

Did you know that they offer 3 spectacular scholarships

Parkgate Society has generously opened up the two volunteer-specific scholarships for volunteers who help out at any program that runs within Parkgate Community Centre.

The 3 Parkgate Society scholarships are:

  • The $1500 PF Yong Memorial Scholarship is for a local resident going into a trade or apprenticeship (nursing, cooking, electrical, carpentry, welding, etc) or a post-secondary applied/natural science program. No Parkgate volunteering is necessary but if you are a volunteer, please include your experience.
  • The $1500 Student Volunteer Award is for a grade 12 student who has volunteered at Parkgate, now or in the past
  • The $1000 Al and Jan Argent Award is for a Parkgate volunteer of any age who would like to take courses to make them a stronger volunteer in our community (ie. First aid, food safe, High 5… make a case for a course, seminar or workshop and we will consider it!)

The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 14th, 2020.
